…Providing critical email continuity to the firm’s users in England and Scotland…

LONDON, UK — November 24, 2008 — Teneros, ( a market leader in Microsoft infrastructure application continuity, today announced that Dickson Minto, one of the UK’s leading law firms, has eliminated all the company’s email downtime since it installed Teneros’ Application Continuity Appliance for Microsoft Exchange more than two years ago.

Founded in Scotland in 1985 by Alastair Dickson and Bruce Minto, Dickson Minto is a law firm specialising in corporate and commercial law. It is, by common consent, one of the top-rated corporate and commercial legal practices in the UK. The firm practices every aspect of corporate and commercial law on behalf of corporate and business clients of all types including private companies, listed companies, public sector organisations, partnerships, sole traders, banks and all other types of financial institution.

“Email is unarguably one of Dickson Minto’s most mission critical applications,” explained Julian Rawlinson, Head of Information Systems and Support (ISS) at Dickson Minto. “As such, any disruption to its performance can result in a significant impact to our brand in the eyes of our customers, employees and stakeholders.”

In late 2005 Dickson Minto sought to resolve the issues that it was previously experiencing with downtime of its Microsoft Exchange application. In the 18 months prior to the installation of the Teneros’ appliance, the firm’s users had experienced some 18 hours of downtime. In addition to this, the IT department was constrained in its ability to be able to maintain the quality of the performance of the system without having to take it completely off-line.

“At the time of our decision, there was no real contest – Teneros ticked all our boxes,” said Rawlinson. “I was very impressed by its simple turnkey appliance that required no Microsoft Exchange expertise, and the fact that it was completely non-intrusive to the company’s Exchange environment. It was a completely worry and pain-free installation. The box was in place within 30 seconds and the first data synchronisation took only four to five hours – all while our system was live.” He added, “It has categorically been one of the best investments we’ve ever made. “

The Teneros Application Continuity Appliances for Microsoft Exchange 2003 and 2007 enable small-to-medium-sized businesses to deploy a comprehensive, cost-effective continuity solution for mission critical Microsoft Exchange, maintaining an ongoing backup of the Exchange mail store. Implementation of the Teneros solution has also allowed Dickson Minto’s IT department to be more agile – feeding the benefits directly back into the core business - and to maintain the performance of the firm’s Exchange server. Rawlison explained: “In our business there is simply no room for email downtime. Even on Sundays deals are still going through. Previously, taking the system off-line to simply defrag it, for example, would have been fraught with downtime challenges. With Teneros, it is a very straight-forward fail-over process that causes no disruption to the system availability and results in us being able to ensure that Exchange can operate to its optimum performance level for our users.”

When an Exchange server problem or failure is detected by the Teneros appliance – as a result of either a planned or unplanned outage - the Teneros appliance performs an Instant-On™ failover and begins serving end-users with no disruption in email service or functionality.

“We continue to be very happy with the benefits of the Teneros appliance and plan to protect the continuity of our Exchange applications further into the future by renewing our contracts with Teneros later this year,” Rawlinson concluded.
