Advanced Solutions International (ASI) is today bringing a new technology offering to the UK, with the launch of its new product, iMIS Friendraising. The software will enable charities to use their existing donor base as a platform to reach out to a wider audience through the use of online fundraising tools.

When donors become fundraisers themselves by using these online tools, they can reach out to their friends and peer groups to raise funds that traditional methods may never have found. This practice, known as friendraising, will not only raise funds but new advocates for the cause.

iMIS Friendraising allows charities to host online communities for their donors, who then in turn expand to their own networks and attract potential supporters through a series of online communication tools. With this product, supporters can put ‘widgets’ and badges on their social networking pages, send recruitment emails, create growth goals and provide simple payment options for new supporters. Essentially, charities are using their existing supporters to target hard to reach audiences and recruit potential supporters.

Unlike fundraising tools that are aimed at the consumer, iMIS Friendraising is controlled by the charity. This provides three distinct advantages – ownership of the data; integration with the supporter database and control over the brand. Furthermore, the donor is focused on the charity’s cause, not distracted by others.

Using iMIS Friendraising charities can create powerful event or campaign websites where fundraisers can register, donate and recruit new sponsors through the Internet. Launching an online event or campaign enables participation from across the globe, drastically increasing overall donations, automating event administration and dramatically increasing the return on investment achieved by the event.

Robin Fisk, fundraising technology expert, Advanced Solutions International (ASI), comments: “A charity’s supporter-base should also be its most effective fundraising resource. With these tools, charities can harness the power of the web and the largely untapped potential of their supporters’ friends and colleagues. The best thing about iMIS Friendraising is that it enables you to take full advantage of that potential whilst keeping control of your brand, ownership of your data and retaining the focus of your supporters on your cause. Recruiting donors with traditional methods can be costly, so at a time when resources are scarce this technology will really help to increase support for minimal cost.”
