T3 – perfect for movers and players
The orbitsound T3 is an entirely new product concept, made possible by the development of airSOUND® single-point-stereo. Weighing only 115g the T3 is a portable stereo speaker system that plugs into your device (iPod, music phone, media player, PSP®).
Not only do headphones ruin your hair, there’s also a technical problem with them (and ear-buds). The problem is that they are not really stereo - just two separated mono signals clamped to your ears. Listening to stereo means you have to hear the sound from both speakers with each ear. This effect gives you the stereo sound field in between the speakers. Because headphones and ear-buds have monochannels, most people hear the sound in the middle or back of their head, as opposed to in front and around where the sound field is supposed to be.
The T3’s approach is to create a personal sound field (sound bubble), and when worn around the neck the T3’s unique BODYSOUND™ effect uses your own body to reinforce the sound. This innovative system allows music to be literally placed in the air, all around your head.
The sound from the T3 is a real spatial stereo sound field and, this way, you won’t be isolated from the environmental sounds around you anymore. You can listen to your favourite music and still be aware of traffic noise and people around or behind you in the street.

orbitsound is the world’s first product range to feature airSOUND® single-point-stereo technology. The technology returns to the earliest work by British scientist Alan Blumlein into stereo reproduction as discrete signal and spatial information. While this theory was realised in the M&S (middle and side) stereo recording technique, still favoured by many classical recording engineers, it has only now been successfully engineered as a replay technology. It is the combination of this and a number of other electro-acoustic principles that is the subject of the various airSOUND® technology patents developed by another British scientist Ted Fletcher. Standard L / R stereo is encoded by airSOUND® amplifiers in the speaker enclosure to direct and spatial signal information; the direct signal is reproduced from a front firing driver and the spatial information from smaller side firing transducers. These signals combine in the air to produce uniform stereo sound everywhere in a room.
