The APA (Association of Publishing Agencies) is changing its focus to ensure that it becomes even more marketer-friendly. As a part of this the APA has announced the relaunch of its website as a major information resource within customer publishing, specifically for marketers and potential clients.
The APA site now has a number of bespoke tools for marketers to discover more about the customer publishing industry, case studies and APA activity. This includes information on APA innovations such as APA ASK, the free consulting service for prospective clients to receive impartial guidance and advice on finding the most suitable customer publishing agency.
The relaunch follows the release of the APA’s digital audit, APA@, which highlighted the increasing appetite for digital content from customer publishers including microsites, e-zines and rich media. This activity is alongside the APA’s investment in online PR through online PR specialists Onlinefire, to maintain and improve digital awareness through SEO, blogging and online networking to amplify the new website.
Julia Hutchison, COO, APA comments “This is a really exciting move for us as an organisation. The results of the APA@ study show the rising importance of customer publishing in the digital arena and the site content reflects this. Our aim is for it to be far more than a just a two dimensional customer publishing resource that holds contact details. Instead it will be an online portal for marketers to information gather and will portray the creativity, dynamism and passion held in the work that is produced within the customer publishing industry.
Everyone is talking about the economic downturn and in my mind the reworked site couldn’t be timelier. Despite being a burgeoning media which has experienced rapid growth over the last 24 months we are not resting on our laurels – it is essential that we make it as easy as possible for potential clients to learn about what our members can do for them. Our members are extremely important to us and hence we have altered our focus from being a typical “trade body” to becoming a ‘Generator of growth within the customer publishing industry’.
The Association of Publishing Agencies (APA) is the representative body for customer magazine publishers. Formed in 1993, the APA now has forty five members, representing over 90% of the market, producing publications and websites for over five hundred leading companies in the UK and internationally.
