BT, Nokia, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Alliance & Leicester scoop IBF Intranet Awards 2008

The Intranet Benchmarking Forum (IBF at www.ibforum.com), an exclusive, confidential intranet and portal benchmarking group of leading European, US and global organisations, has announced the winners of its annual ‘Intranets of the Year’ awards.

Formed in 2002, the IBF is the world’s foremost intranet and portal benchmarking group and is acknowledged to have established industry standards for intranet and portal performance. IBF members now include more than 70 of the world’s leading public and private sector bodies such the BBC, BP, Citi, Deloitte, the Department for Work and Pensions, Deutsche Telekom, ExxonMobil, Kellogg’s, Pfizer and Unilever.

BT, Nokia, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Alliance & Leicester are the four winners of the IBF’s ‘Intranets of the Year’ awards for 2008 in recognition of their excellence in key aspects of intranet management. The accolades are given to IBF member organisations that perform best in each of the four areas of IBF’s intranet evaluation and benchmarking model.

The full list of winners and runners-up in the IBF Intranet Awards for 2008 is:

- Winner: BT
- Runner up: GlaxoSmithKline

• Category: Metrics & Performance
- Winner: PricewaterhouseCoopers
- Runner up: Swiss Re

• Category: Communication & Culture
- Winner: Nokia
- Runner up: Sara Lee

• Design & Usability
- Winner: Alliance & Leicester
- Runner up: AXA

Commenting on the award results, Paul Miller, IBF founder and chief executive officer, said: “The IBF’s 70-plus member organisations are world leaders in intranet and portal performance and these winners and runners-up are right at the cutting edge. They provide an example for IBF’s other member organisations to follow.”

Cornelis van der Brugge, senior manager for collaboration platforms at award winner Nokia, said: “This award is very encouraging for Nokia and recognition for the existing tools and services that we offer our employees to communicate with at all levels across the organisation. IBF’s benchmarking model is the world’s first all-encompassing intranet benchmarking standard. It comprises four areas:

• Strategy & Governance: How well led and managed is the intranet?
• Metrics & Performance: How well is the intranet’s performance and value measured?
• Communication & Culture: How effective is the intranet as a communication channel and corporate culture builder?
