TTS is Awarded a Special, Highly Commended Prize at the 2008 Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards

TTS, one of Scotland’s leading companies in renewable energy technologies and environmental engineering, scooped a highly commended prize, in recognition of being one of the ‘crème de la crème’ of Scotland’s top environmentally-friendly businesses at the recent and prestigious VIBES Awards ceremony, held in Edinburgh’s Sheraton Grand Hotel.

Now in its ninth year, VIBES recognises and rewards the efforts of Scottish businesses to become more efficient and competitive through improving environmental performance and benefiting a company's bottom-line.

The company was awarded a special highly commended prize in the ‘service’ award category for its impressive commitment to good environmental practice, both internally and externally. This contribution is evident in the many projects undertaken on behalf of its clients. These have resulted in significant reductions in energy consumption and Co2 emissions. TTS also provides businesses across the UK and Europe, with mechanical and electrical engineering services.

Director John Benson of TTS said: “We are very pleased to be recognised for the environmental improvement work we’ve successfully undertaken. We have a strong team with extensive knowledge and a passion for energy optimisation. We have the drive to help other companies play their role in protecting the environment, saving them money and reducing CO2 emissions.

“Since 2007, our recommendations from energy audits have generated potential savings for small businesses of almost £100,000, over two million kWh and 688 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions – which is equivalent to taking approximately 240 cars off the road. We’re in the process of expanding in the areas of environmental engineering and renewable technologies. Our aim is to become the ‘first choice’ for businesses looking for help in these areas and we hope our recent accolade at VIBES will help put us even more firmly on the map.”

Examples of Projects by TTS

1. TTS assisted a Selkirk-based health centre by reducing its energy requirement with the installation of new, high efficiency, gas fired boilers that resulted in savings of £66,281 within the first six months.

2. An extensive TTS energy audit identified that the existing refrigeration systems of a Dumfries-based business should be replaced with new, energy efficient equipment. Analysis of weather data showed that 68% of the cooling could be provided by ‘free cooling’. The reduction in the energy demand equated to over 450,000 kWh of energy every year.
