Standard Life Healthcare

It is not just loved ones who spur people on to improve their health – new research from Standard Life Healthcare shows that more than one in seven people (14%) are influenced by work colleagues to make improvements to their lifestyle and diet for health reasons.

The 8th Standard Life Attitudes to Healthcare survey also included a special chapter related to small businesses - those employing fewer than 250 staff. It reveals that half of employers actively encourage their staff to take up a healthier lifestyle.

Other findings among small businesses include:

• 96% of employers said that their workplace is a healthy one
• 77% said that employers should be directly involved in supporting their
employees’ health and wellbeing
• 76% said that employees would find it more attractive to work for an
employer who supported employee health and wellbeing

Standard Life Healthcare offers a wide range of health and wellbeing tools in its company health insurance plans. These include online confidential health advice and 24 hour telephone access to a GP. For employers there are modular benefits available that include Occupational Health, Health Screens and an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), all designed to help support employees’ health and wellbeing.
