Location-based iPhone application launches today

Qype, the UK’s largest local search and recommendation site, announces the launch of Europe’s first location-based iPhone application with integrated user reviews and recommendations.

Qype Radar brings over 500,000 reviews right into your pocket, allowing users to immediately pinpoint the best places near them. The application spans 20 categories including restaurants, bars, shops, hotels and nightlife; and covers 15,000 cities and towns worldwide.

As well as instant directions, Qype Radar also delivers all the crucial information on one page including address, phone number, photographs and links. Gone are the days of having to call premium rate directory services, and favourite places can be bookmarked to create personal city guides.

Qype’s founder and CEO Stephan Uhrenbacher said, “We are delighted to announce the launch of Qype Radar. We believe this is a unique application and will prove to be extremely useful for iPhone users. Qype Radar offers people immediate access to our extensive database of trusted reviews and recommendations wherever they are, no more turning up to a restaurant without prior warning of the terrible food and service!”

Qype Radar is the first application to take advantage of Qype's new API, and demonstrates the kind of powerful applications anyone can build on Qype’s new open platform. It can be downloaded free of charge from today at
