Culture vultures who have dreamed of acquiring their very own piece of modern art have the chance to do just that at the at the Truc Troc exhibition, which takes place later this month in Brussels.

The innovative and interactive show provides a way for up-and-coming artists to show off their work - and gives members of the public the chance to discover and appreciate it.

At the event, guests can express an interest in a piece of art they have seen by posting a note next to the work and then speaking to the artists to negotiate payment in one form or another.

Recompense takes the form of objects or services of a similar value, which are redeemed at any time over the course of the exhibition, which is set to take place at the BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels between Saturday January 31st 2009 and Sunday February 1st 2009.

The event begins at 19:00 local time on the Saturday and runs until 18:00 on the Sunday.

Previous successful exchanges have included paintings, photographs, engravings, holiday tickets, website training and exhibition space in a gallery, meaning those staying in Brussels hotels can use their own skills and abilities to take part in the event.
