London – 21.01.2009 - DekaBank, the central asset management arm of the German Savings Bank’s Finance Group recently undertook to move its IT systems from XP SP2 to XP SP3. A major undertaking that had a range of complex issues that required specialist intervention particularly in respect of language issues.

The XP SP3 platform migration is in English and so there were many German language specific conditions that needed to be checked for. There were also potential issues that related to the introduction of IE7. DekaBank and its partner HP were looking for a way to help resolve these potential issues quickly. ChangeBASE AOK provided the answer.

Using its automated toolset, the team from ChangeBASE AOK quickly identified the need, using the AOK toolset Test IT function, and to demonstrate the AOK flexibility, quickly added a number of specific plugins that enabled German strings and language conditions to be identified, including inter-application issues, particularly those that would have occurred within the new build. “We were particularly impressed with the ChangeBASE AOK product suite and the way in which the team were able to use it, quickly develop new plugins to ensure we had robust identification of the potential language issues” said Stefan Boehm of DekaBank.

Sophie Tidman, Professional Services Manager at ChangeBASE AOK who led the project said, “I was really pleased with the way in which our product delivered what DekaBank needed. We were very flattered to have the opportunity to demonstrate our capability. In the end the evaluation of the core applications, requirements gathering and development of customer specific plugins only took two days. I am very pleased to say that DekaBank have now asked us to look at the use of AOK in the ongoing management of their application estate, using the AOK Manage-IT module, Best Practice, Middleware and MSI Installer Integrity Plugins to name but a few. I am looking forward to running the next stage as smoothly as the first”.

DekaBank is one of the first German banks to adopt the English version of XP SP3, giving the company greater flexibility and greater global compatibility.
