Lifestyle retailer Octopus supports ambitious expansion with new retail systems from Eurostop
Octopus, a nationwide retailer of unusual and eye-catching homewares, gifts, jewellery, watches and designer luggage has recently selected Eurostop for its retail systems. Eurostop’s e rmis has been installed at the head office in Carnaby Street, London and Eurostop’s e pos has been installed at each of the 18 stores which are located at key sites across London and at major city centres and shopping malls across the country. The new system will gather sales data in near real time from the stores, and replaces a more basic system that the firm installed several years earlier.
Octopus has recently been shortlisted for the Retail Week Emerging Retailer of the Year award.
Eurostop’s solution was selected for its extensive functionality and its powerful reporting. The new integrated, multi-user system will give the retailer tighter stock management, and provides the management team with better overall visibility of the business. Reports that previously took a week to produce can now be generated in seconds. The merchandising module of the system enables stores to make their own stock ordering decisions. For the London stores in particular, this is critical as they replenish on a daily basis enabling them operate with minimal storage space.
The warehouse, based near Waterloo, is now able to produce its own pick lists, where before they had relied on head office to produce them. This saves time, and because it is quicker, ensures greater accuracy.
Owner and Managing Director Edward Kerr-Muir commented, “When we first set up the business 13 years ago a basic system was all we needed. Now that we are expanding rapidly and look to double the number of stores in the next year or two, we need a full management system that will enable us to see the business as a whole. The Eurostop system empowers us to take commercial decisions quickly.”
Denise Proctor, Sales Executive at Eurostop said, “At Eurostop we aim to automate as many retail management processes as possible and so provide as much information to the retailer as quickly as possible. In tough trading conditions, this enables the retailer to make quick, informed decisions, that can often make the difference between making a profit and not.”
