Nottingham University Business School

Nottingham University Business School is hosting an innovative consultation event on behalf of the Government’s Better Regulation Executive (BRE) on Tuesday, January 27 2009.

The event, which builds on the Business School’s reputation for responsibility and enterprise in delivering innovative thinking, will be a chance for business entrepreneurs, academics and wider members of the community to directly tell the Government areas in which it can improve.

Regulatory reform is seen as essential to maintaining the UK’s world-class business environment while widening opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. This is especially true given the need to tackle the difficult current economic climate, foster enterprise and prepare the economy for a recovery. The BRE has undertaken an ambitious initiative to reduce the administrative burden on businesses by around 25% by 2010. This reduction in red tape will be an important measure to support entrepreneurship and innovation as companies look to secure long term growth.

Speaking at the innovative event and will be Mr Jitinder Kohli, Chief Executive of the BRE and Mr Dan Roulstone, Director, Regulatory and Innovation Directorate. Both will be keen to taken on board the opinions and ideas of the delegates who attend.

Professor Leigh Drake said:

‘It's not every day that you get the chance to influence Government policy so please take full advantage of this opportunity and join us.The Government has said that it is committed to providing essential protections for citizens, workers and business through regulation and has promised to deliver an estimated £3.4bn in net annual savings for business by May 2010. On the 27th January we will have the opportunity to help shape how that can be achieved.”
