Music, dance, fireworks, comedy, film, theatre and art are set to come together in Dublin in the coming weeks, as the Irish capital celebrates St Patrick's Day.

Argued by some to be the largest annual event in Ireland, the festival around the saint's special day is a huge event for both those visiting the country and staying in Dublin as well as those who are residents.

The festival is set to take place from Thursday March 12th until Tuesday March 17th, with the traditional centrepiece - the St Patrick's Day Parade - taking place on the last day of the showcase.

The parade begins at 12:00 GMT at Parnell Square North and snakes around the city, giving everyone a chance to see the two-hour spectacle.

Over the course of the five-day event, some 4,000 performers and one million people are due to celebrate all things Irish.

And, with the theme of this year's festival being the sky's the limit, the show promises to be the most memorable edition yet, the organisers explain.

Tickets for grandstand seats - which could ensure the best possible view of the parade - are now available online and are priced at €60 (£55.78).
