hybris versatility integrates online shop with forward-looking customer communication and Miles& More loyalty programme
London, 12 February 2009 – hybris (www.hybris.com), a leading vendor of multi-channel commerce and communication software, has announced that Lufthansa WorldShop (www.worldshop.eu) has invested in hybris Commerce as part of its strategy to future proof its e-commerce capabilities. The new hybris platform will enable Lufthansa WorldShop to enhance the online shopping experience for all customers with forward-looking communication and integrate its Miles&More loyalty programme solution in one creative, cost-effective system.
The complex integration of the Miles&More loyalty programme was a key factor behind Lufthansa WorldShop’s decision to invest in hybris because this facility is not readily offered by standard e-commerce software. The solution was provided by hybris partners texcelerate solutions GmbH and ARITHNEA GmbH who developed a software extension based on hybris Commerce that is precisely tailored to the loyalty programme. “Among other things, we had to filter the Lufthansa WorldShop-specific settlement rules and integrate them smoothly into the shop – without detracting from the shopping experience,” says Michael Buschmann, the software architect at ARITHNEA GmbH with overall responsibility for implementation of the loyalty programme.
In addition to the Miles&More programme, there are also other interfaces to external systems including a CRM solution for customer communication, a merchandise management system and systems for credit-card providers. The hybris solution ensures uniform product communication throughout all online and offline channels. All product information can be centrally managed and it features simplified data management, an expansion of data availability with media master data and co-ordinated integration of all distribution channels. “Using standard technologies such as Web Services and XML, we were able to realise the bi-directional link-up of external systems clearly and take future developments into account,” says project manager Andreas Zimmer at texcelerate solutions.
As Christoph Sonntag, head of IT at Lufthansa WorldShop, explains: “We invested in hybris because the highly adaptable software has clear potential for future expansions. The project’s creative implementation confirms that we have found the right partner. Content management with the hybris solution means that we can quickly change website content and product information without time-consuming imports.” Future plans include further expansion and the launch of another online shop on the new e-commerce platform.
