Housing associations looking to learn how they can benefit from this new generation of intranet and make the most of the opportunities they offer to transform employee communication, collaboration and knowledge management will find this half-day free seminar invaluable.

Intranets are now far more than just a document store. Today’s business solutions need to have a broader remit to improve productivity by sharing and managing information. They also need to provide a platform for web based interaction – inside the organisation.

The latest fourth generation intranets are being heralded as intelligent intranets. This new league of business communication allows users to actively engage from every part of an organisation – the Holy Grail from an internal communications perspective.

The seminar will focus on:

• how Housing Associations can make the most of social networking tools and Web 2.0 technologies to help them achieve an intranet that delivers exactly what users expect and what is right for the organisation to deliver real business value and efficiency gains.
• A case study showing how Rooftop Housing Group’s intranet contributed to their three star ‘excellent’ rating by the Audit Commission by promoting awareness of the organisation’s mission and its objectives and goals.
• How to drive intranet usage by encouraging more people to interact with the intranet thus ensuring it becomes the hub of internal communication and collaboration.

There will also be an opportunity for delegates to have some ‘hands on’ experience of the world's first 4th generation intranet - Interact Intranet 4.0

Nigel Danson, Managing Director of Odyssey Interactive Ltd, who are hosting the event said:

“Fourth generation intranets take advantage of the latest technologies as used by websites like Facebook, MySpace and Amazon and allow users to rate and rank information, in effect expanding ownership for content management from a few Intranet Champions to all users. They also incorporate social and business networking tools, can accommodate rich media and, best of all, can identify organisational information gaps. The Seminar will look at how these features can be applied in housing association intranets.

"Effective intranets need to provide tools for people to very easily add content and create a great intranet without needing any technical ability. This results in an improved sense of ownership, reliability and interaction and will make intranet use part of the working day, making it a more effective and powerful internal communications tool”

The Seminar will be of benefit to anyone involved in intranet planning, management, administration and content. Staff from HR, Marketing and Internal Communications departments will also gain a valuable insight into how intranets can be used to create a productive, innovative platform that will be embraced by end users.

The Seminar is being held from 10am to 1pm at the National Housing Federation’s Conference Centre, Lion Court, in Holborn on Tuesday, 12 May 2009.
