One of the oldest large-scale races on the National Hunt Racing calendar, the Irish Grand National is set to take place at Fairyhouse Racecourse in Dublin on April 13th.

Steeped in history, the circuit has played host to a range of big names in the equine world both on the flat and over jumps, including Alike, Arkle, Desert Orchid, Captain Christy, Persian War, Florida Pearl, Limestone Lad, Istabraq, Bobbyjo and Flying Bolt.

With a racing history dating back to 1848, when the Ward Union hunt held their meeting at the venue, Fairyhouse Racecourse has hosted the Irish Grand National since 1870 and the winner of the inaugural event was Sir Robert Peel.

Surrounded by idyllic green countryside, Fairyhouse Racecourse is located just a few miles from the centre of the Irish capital, meaning it is easily accessible for those staying in Dublin centre.

The ticket prices for the event start from 10 Euros for Students and senior citizens and 20 Euros otherwise.

For those who wish to book a hotel room in Dublin can take advantage of up to 70% discount that is offering on over 150 Dublin hotels ranging from serviced apartments to boutique hotels.

The fabulous 4 star La Stampa Hotel & Spa is offering en-suite double rooms for £132 for 2 adults. The hotel is approx 30 minutes by road from the racecourse.
