Europe's largest celebration of technology and science is set to take place in Edinburgh in April.
Since 1987, the Edinburgh International Science Festival has been inspiring people from all age groups and backgrounds to gain an understanding and appreciation of the wonderful world around them.
This year's event is set to be extra special, given the fact that 2009 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the International Year of Astronomy.
"We're celebrating with a variety of fantastic events, including a look at the cosmos, from the Earth to the universe and a fascinating debate, Darwin, ideology and God," the organisers explain.
Highlights of the festival, which is set to run between Saturday April 4th and Saturday 18th, include an appearance by ASIMO, the most advanced humanoid robot in the world, as well as an event called Hauntings which takes a science-based look at the supernatural.
The showcase is set to take place at various locations around the Scottish capital, including McEwan Hall and the campus of the city's university. Tickets for the events vary in price and more information can be obtained by visiting the official site of the festival.
