11th March 2009 – London, UK – Planview, the leading independent provider of enterprise-wide portfolio management solutions, today announced that the new version of its portfolio management suite, Planview Enterprise 10, has been identified by Butler Group, Europe’s leading IT research and analysis organisation, as a potential solution for helping organisations gain efficiencies and drive tangible, demonstrable results in the management of IT projects and portfolios.

According to Butler Group’s independent report, a Technology Audit of Planview Enterprise 10, project portfolio management (PPM) processes and supporting tools are now a business imperative for larger enterprise IT departments and functions, “with their adoption critical for success in many Project Support Offices.” Concerning Planview Enterprise 10, the independent report states that “Planview delivers against these requirements through the creation of a portfolio management ecosystem that improves process maturity and assists the alignment of projects, services, and investments with strategic objectives. As a result, organisations can achieve greater control over both financial and people resources, strengthen project management capabilities, and deliver real-time analytics to increase cost visibility and facilitate improved decision making.”

Planview Enterprise 10, announced in February 2009, helps organisations with PPM requirements by providing a wide range of features that include: scenario planning and strategic modeling; efficient management of project portfolios and resource assignments; new functionality for product-driven organisations to maximise the value of their product portfolios; insight into, and transparency of, the cost of providing IT services and developing products; a robust and interactive analytics platform; and Business Process Management capabilities and integrated portfolio management best practices. These functions are supported by Planview PRISMS (a library of portfolio management best practices), Planview OpenSuite (integration connectors), Planview E-learning, and Intelligent Help.

Stephen Mann, Senior Research Analyst at Butler Group, states; “It is only relatively recently that the portfolio-based management of business projects has become a corporate necessity. Modern organisations are increasingly subject to a variety of pressures and constraints such as increased business demand for technology investment, growing complexity of business, IT and product development operations, and the need to provide governance-dictated transparency.”

Peter Bernard, European Marketing Director of Planview said; “This report further supports our view that portfolio management plays a critical role in enterprises’ business success. Organisations must get tangible, demonstrable results from their investments and business processes, especially during trying economic times. Planview Enterprise 10 not only delivers the ability to prove results, it also enables companies to streamline management costs and project inefficiencies, all of which can significantly impact the financial bottom line.”
