Splash Mila vinyl flooring

The sun is shining, the daffodils are getting ready to burst into flower and there’s the distinctive smell of fresh grass in the air. Spring is definitely upon us when you step outside, but can you say the same about inside your house?

Now is the perfect time to freshen up your home and Laura Cohen, interior design expert from, is on hand to show you how to do it quickly, easily and cheaply.

The first thing to do is replace heavy colours and materials with lighter shades and fabrics. Start by switching your duvet cover or changing the cushions on the sofa. If your budget allows, you could also think about hanging new curtains throughout the house. You’ll be amazed how these little touches instantly brighten up the room.

A cheaper alternative to replacing heavy drapes is to invest in a pair of net curtains. This way you can take advantage of the longer evenings as they let the light in but keep nosy neighbours out.

No colours represent Spring better than yellow and green, so try to incorporate them into the décor in some way. Why not update tattered flooring in the kitchen with a bright vinyl such as Splash Mila from (pictured), which is very affordable at only £19 per square metre? You can continue the theme by accessorising with towels, cutlery drawers and utensil holders in matching colours.

To complete the look, why don’t you bring the outside in – literally? There’s an abundance of fresh flowers in the shops and even in your garden at the moment so fill the home with them. Vases full of beautiful blooms placed throughout the house look fabulous and their bright colours and sweet scent will remind you of Spring every second of the day!
