Described by its organisers as the most important film festival in Portugal, IndieLisboa is set to begin in just a few short weeks.
The event, which is now in its sixth year, provides visitors with the opportunity to see some of the most interesting works created by independent filmmakers from around the globe.
A wide array of films from some of the leading participants in the sector has now been submitted to the event's panel of judges and is currently under review.
This year's selection committee includes Marco Muller, the director of the Venice Film Festival. He will be joined by Peter Taylor, programmer of the short film segment of the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the director of Berlinale's Forum Christoph Terhechte.
The entire festival agenda will be announced later this month.
However, given the calibre of films which have taken home gongs in the past, such as El Amarillo by Sergio Mazza and Love Conquers All by Tan Chui Mui, it may be safe to assume that this year's show will be the best yet.
IndieLisboa 2009 takes place between April 23rd and May 3rd, giving film enthusiasts plenty of time to book tickets and hotels in Lisbon. More details on tickets' prices will be made available later this month.
