Key Features and functions:

The World’s First PC-Free Videophone for Skype boasts a range of features and functions that make it a great choice for business or personal use:

AV Hardware
The unit sports a large clear 7” LCD display.

Alongside the LCD, the unit features an integrated webcam, speaker and microphone, providing exceptional sound quality for all calls.
Furthermore with high quality video sensor onboard the Eee Videophone webcam operates better than other camera solutions under low lux environment (i.e. within darker rooms).

For users who wish to have privacy during their calls a standard mini-jack headset and microphone are also supplied.

The unit provides an intuitive, easy to use Icon-Based User Interface that’s a snip to use for even the most techno-phobic.

Dual connectivity is also included - both Wireless (WiFi) and Wired (LAN) functionality is available for internet calls.

The Eee Videophone doesn’t need to be attached to a wall socket or to a PC during usage as it includes a built-in, rechargeable battery. So not only can it be conveniently situated anywhere, users also won’t suffer from a ‘blackout’ whilst moving from room to room during conversation.

Consumers in Europe can pre-order the Eee Videophone from either or the Skype shop, priced at around £219.95.

Please see specification for full technical detail.

The simple-to-use, icon-based interface and intuitive button layout take the complexity out of Internet calling - making it easy for anyone to make and receive Skype-to-Skype video and voice calls. Users can even join voice conferences, making the Eee Videophone an inexpensive, all-in-one voice and video conferencing solution for small businesses as well as home users. Furthermore, the Eee Videophone allows users to make and receive calls to and from fixed and mobile lines at extremely low cost rates. Users can subscribe to one of Skype’s popular unlimited calling* subscriptions or purchase Skype credit to make outgoing calls at

“The Eee Videophone is Skype’s first foray with a partner into the videophone category,” said Manrique Brenes, Skype’s director of business development and product management for consumer electronics. “With more than 25% of Skype-to-Skype calls including video, we know that video calling is an easy, accessible and relevant way for people to communicate. The videophone offers the benefits of video calling to a much wider audience, allowing friends and families to share their worlds face-to-face without being tied to a computer.”

The Eee Videophone offers the quickest and easiest way to make free video calls - at no point is a computer or additional software required. Users can get it up and running in three simple steps:

1. Connect to a broadband connection, either wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable
2. Sign-in with an existing Skype name or create a new one
3. Start video calling
