-Barros Technologies launches first version of collaborative photo application to allow users to edit, tag and share pictures at the click of a button-

London, UK and Boston, US, 7 April 2009 – Barros Technologies, a specialist in software and services to enable mobile and collaborative working independent of technology platform and device, has launched NetPhoto, an application that lets Apple iPhone users easily customise, edit and upload photos to social networking and photo-sharing sites including Facebook, MySpace, Picasa and Flickr.

NetPhoto allows iPhone users to add comments and choose from 200 fun art and text additions to photos including hats, glasses, facial expressions and speech bubbles. Photos can be tagged and uploaded with a single click to their Facebook, MySpace, Picasa or MySpace page. NetPhoto is available to download at the Apple iStore for £2.99 UKP/ $4.99 USD.

The popularity of online photo sharing has created widespread demand for software applications that make it easy to edit and upload pictures from mobile devices. More than 850 million photos are uploaded to Facebook every month, while MySpace currently has more than 7 billion photos uploaded by its 130 million users.

John Caine, MBE and Executive Chairman of Barros Technologies, said: “More and more people are accessing social networking services from their mobile devices as they want to remain connected to their social network while on the move. We wanted to provide them with same richness of photo-editing and sharing functionality on their mobile device as they currently enjoy from their laptop or PC.”

Barros is currently working to extend NetPhoto to other internet-enabled devices and platforms including RIM’s BlackBerry, Windows Mobile devices, Google’s Android, and Symbian smartphones.

NetPhoto is the first of several applications that will be launched by Barros Technologies’ Consumer Division over the next two quarters. It was built using Barros’s AlicantOS Mobile platform, a centralised, virtual development environment that enables the deployment and integration of mobile applications across different platforms and devices, thereby lowering their operating and maintenance costs.

About Barros Technologies

Barros Technologies provides software and services that enable mobile and collaborative working, independent of platform and device.

The company has two business divisions. The first is focused on delivering enterprise internet and mobile software and consultancy, and the second is a consumer division, which develops mobile internet applications for popular collaborative environments including Google’s Android, the BlackBerry RIM, Apple’s iPhone and Symbian smartphones.

The company’s flagship product, AlicantOS, is a virtual computing environment and operating system that allows business users to access data through any device, regardless of vendor and operating system. A mobile operating system, AlicantOS MIOS, provides developers with a virtual cross-platform, device agnostic development environment so applications can be developed to run automatically across all major mobile devices.

The AlicantOS concept was first developed five years ago by Luis Barros, working with a small team of programmers. Barros Technologies Limited was launched in February 2008 by Luis Barros, John Caine and Martin Tempia.

Barros Technologies Limited is privately funded and headquartered in London.
