News of Cyber Threats Continues as Spies Reportedly Hack into US Electric Grid

Cupertino, Calif. — 9 April 2009 — ForeScout Technologies, the market leader in network access control (NAC) for large government and global enterprise deployments, today announced that its enhanced CounterACT™ platform delivers enterprise-grade NAC that is ideally suited to protect government agencies and U.S. Infrastructure. Using CounterACT, government agencies are able to protect against malware such as Conficker, insider attacks such as the Heartland breach, and cyber threats – such as yesterday’s news of spies reportedly hacking into the U.S. electric grid and leaving behind mechanisms to disrupt service, renewing questions about the security of the U.S. national infrastructure.

“It is becoming more critical for federal government agencies – and their suppliers -- to consider adopting key enterprise security technologies like NAC, which successfully protect global enterprises against hackers and malware today,” stated Steven Cooper, former CIO of the American Red Cross and the first CIO of the US Department of Homeland Security, and founding partner of Strativest.

Gord Boyce, president at ForeScout added: “Technologies like CounterACT can help prevent the loss of critical infrastructure in the event of terrorist attacks or war, and also protect federal intellectual property against cyber theft. It is these national concerns for security that are driving the discussion of the need for a Federal Chief Technology Officer to assist the U.S. government. The government can address many of their concerns by looking at core technology solutions like CounterACT, which fit nicely into heterogeneous IT infrastructures without the requirement to make major IT changes.”

CounterACT offers a full complement of solutions to address the network access control needs of global enterprise and large government agencies.

If you are interested in learning about the latest CounterACT capabilities, these will be demonstrated in the ForeScout Booth #423 at the upcoming RSA Conference 2009, April 20-24, Moscone Center/San Francisco. <http://www.rsaconference.com/2009/US/home.aspx>
