Set to be one of the most exciting new names on the musical calendar for 2009, SoundCity in Liverpool is due to take place next month.

The four-day event will provide a platform for a number of the hottest new bands, with acts already confirmed for the festival including Little Boots, Animal Collective , the Zutons and White Lies - the latter of which are already chart-toppers with their debut album To Lose My Life.

More than 400 acts from around the globe are due to play to a total of 25,000 people at 30 of the city's most prestigious musical venues - including Korova, Alma de Cuba and the city Philharmonic Hall - over the course of the celebration, which will run from Wednesday May 20th until Saturday May 23rd.

Early bird tickets can be purchased for £35, while regular passes cost a total of £60 in advance. They are priced at £80 on the door.

Festival and conference passes are charged at £99 for the early bird version and increase to £120 for the regular type.

"SoundCity champions up and coming talent and captured the zeitgeist of 2008 with highlights that included Santogold, Hercules and Love Affair, Glasvegas, Hadouken, Reverend and the Makers, Laura Marling, the Whip, Port O' Brien, Crystal Castles, Ladyhawke and the Wombats," the organisers explain.

Given SoundCity's previous success in showcasing hot new bands, it could well be wise to book tickets - as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
