Bracknell, U.K., April 15, 2009, Webroot, a leading provider of security software for the consumer, enterprise and SME markets, will be highlighting the requirement for an ever-vigilant IT security approach as it takes part in a Security Expert Forum on social networking and collaboration of Web 2.0 technologies, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday 28 April, at InfoSecurity Europe 2009, Main Hall, Earls Court, London.

Gerhard Eschelbeck, Webroot Chief Technology Officer and international academic presenter, will be joined at the panel session by:

• Computer Weekly Editor, Brian McKenna;
• Jericho Forum board member and Global IS Integrated Assurance Director, AstraZeneca, Paul Simmonds;
• Analyst at The Butler Group, a leading provider of Information Technology research, analysis, and advice, Andrew Kellett; and,
• Senior Network Analyst at Neopost, supplier of mailroom, document and logistics solutions in the UK and Europe, Dominic Thomas.

The session will seek out the security issues being faced by organisations that collaborate using Web 2.0 technologies and will discuss the management of internal and external threats, including those posed by employees. The session will reveal not only the views of the technological experts, but also the views of the end-user who will address the security issues faced at the IT manager level.

Eschelbeck explains, “Productivity gains from collaborative working can be substantial. But collaboration can leave organisations exposed, as the chain of knowledge partners becomes longer and more complex. With the advent of interactive Web 2.0 technologies, malware purveyors have more opportunities to insert their programs onto Web sites and spread them to users worldwide. Additionally, blogs and wikis provide new opportunities for employees to purposely or inadvertently share confidential information with external audiences. The Security Expert Forum will provide its audience with the opportunity to learn more about these security issues when working within a Web 2.0 environment.”

On Stand G10, Webroot will demonstrate its newest additions to its award-winning Software-as-a-Service technologies, including the latest releases of both Webroot® Web and Email Security SaaS.

Webroot will be represented at the show by Peter Watkins, Chief Executive Officer, Gerhard Eschelbeck, Chief Technology Officer and newly appointed Don Beck, General Manager and SVP of Enterprise SaaS. Managing Director EMEA, Mark Tickle, will also be available at the event.

On its stand, Webroot will be encouraging visitors to consider their approach to security with the message ‘First-Class Service to the Cloud’ where they will be invited to register at a check-in desk, relax in first-class seats and benefit from first-class service as they experience the Webroot SaaS offerings in full. All visitors taking part in the first-class experience are given the chance to win two first-class return airline tickets to a worldwide destination.
