MGLive! Announces new format for event opener,
The Tour de Silverstone road run

The Tour de Silverstone, sponsored by Hagerty Classic Car Insurance, now the traditional opener to the MG Car Club’s MGLIve! Silverstone meeting which is being staged over the weekend July 10/11/12, has taken on a new format for the 2009 event.

Using the format of the traditional Monte Carlo Rally, there will be four start points round the UK before the cars run to Silverstone for the climax of the event. The start points are The Donington Motor Museum, Donington; REME Museum of Technology at Arborfield near Reading; The Shuttleworth Collection, near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire; and the Coventry Museum of Transport, in Coventry. The entrance fee to the museum is included in the cost of the Tour.

Each route of approximately 80 to 100 miles winds its way through attractive countryside and villages, primarily using unclassified roads. Each ‘concentration’ run will take three to four hours with the cars scheduled to arrive at Silverstone at 4.00pm in time to drive two parade laps of the circuit.

The run, which takes place on Friday 10th July, is limited to 100 vehicles with an entry fee of just £20 per vehicle for MGCC members (£25 for non-members) with a driver and one passenger. Included is the roadbook, rally plaque and souvenir medal.

Entry to the Tour will be by advance booking only and further detailed information can be obtained by visiting
