Bundled Offering Provides Proactive Threat Protection for Customers

Wokingham, UK – 16th April 2009 – Open source innovator and Snort® creator, Sourcefire®, Inc. (Nasdaq: FIRE), a leader in real-time adaptive network security, today announced that the Sourcefire 3D® System will now be offered by Symantec Corp. to be bundled as part of the Symantec Managed Security Services offering. This agreement brings together the industry’s leading intrusion prevention system (IPS) and one of the world’s leading managed security services organizations.

Through this partnership, Sourcefire is leasing the Sourcefire 3D System appliances to Symantec Managed Services’ customers with Symantec taking responsibility for deploying, monitoring and managing all equipment within the customer environments. Symantec users can now lease Sourcefire IPS appliances as part of their existing Symantec agreement. All Sourcefire solutions adhere to Symantec’s strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring timely delivery and the highest levels of support.

“Symantec has a reputation for providing customers with the industry’s best solutions and support, said Grant Geyer, Vice President of Managed Services at Symantec. “We feel that the relationship with Sourcefire will enable us to continue to provide our managed security services customers with the best protection.”

In addition to Sourcefire’s leading Snort-based IPS technology, Sourcefire is also announcing that Symantec will host the Sourcefire Defense Center® for smaller customers. The Sourcefire Defense Center unifies critical network security functions including event monitoring, forensic analysis, and reporting. Symantec will leverage the Defense Center to correlate security events with characteristics of the target devices and prioritize security events based on real business impact.

“Sourcefire provides customers with innovative solutions that solve their real world requirements, and this selection by Symantec Managed Security Services further highlights our position as the leading technology in our market,” said Matt McCormick, Vice President of Business Development at Sourcefire. “The combination of Symantec’s expertise and Sourcefire’s leading technology is already providing customers with the increased protection needed so they can do business safely.”
