Between May 21st and 24th, the Irish capital will play host to musical superstars from around the planet as it hosts Dublin City Soul Festival.

Now in its third year, the annual four-day event offers visitors a wide range of attractions, including the Soul Picnic.

The free experience takes place in the idyllic surroundings of Merrion Square Park - which is within easy reach of a many hotels in Dublin, meaning it should be no problem to find the perfect spot to sit - and is very much a friends and family affair.

"Bring your little brothers and sisters, mums and dads, aunties and uncles - and don't forget your picnic blankets," the organisers explain, noting there will be a wide array of food up for grabs, as well as live music.

Meanwhile, the Soul Jam event takes place at the Sugar Club on two nights of the showcase and features Ms Nickki and The Memphis Soul Survivors, as well as Vince Johnson of The Plantation All Stars.

Tickets for the Soul Jam cost €40, they include free admission to the nightclub after the live music has finished, meaning visitors have the chance to party the night away.
