John Lewis Partnership selects Active Risk Manager from Strategic Thought for the integration and consolidation of Enterprise Risk Management
Strategic Thought Group plc, provider of enterprise risk management software Active Risk Manager, today announced that The John Lewis Partnership has chosen Active Risk Manager (ARM) for the integration and consolidation of its enterprise risk management information and processes. The new software solution will also ensure consistency of risk management across the Partnership’s retail businesses.
The John Lewis Partnership operates 27 department stores across the UK, johnlewis.com, 200 Waitrose supermarkets and Greenbee.com, a direct services company. The business is the UK’s largest example of worker co-ownership where all 69,000 staff are ‘Partners’ in the business.
Active Risk Manager was selected following a wide ranging review of enterprise risk management systems and will be rolled out in the coming months. The first phase of implementation is due for completion by the end of April 2009.
Paul Clift, Head of Risk Management said, “Active Risk Manager has outstanding capability in terms of flexibility across all areas of the business and risk profiles. According to Paul Clift the existing risk management systems based on spreadsheets and other standard office systems were becoming too resource intensive to support. Active Risk Manager will provide efficiencies and the platform on which to continue to build and develop enterprise risk management at the John Lewis Partnership.
“We intend to use ARM to reinforce the principles that already apply within the Partnership, for example that the responsibility for risk is owned by the management. It will also be a method of providing an appropriate level of governance oversight, an auditable risk environment and most importantly hierarchical reporting to the Board. All of this will be made possible in a far more efficient and timely fashion using Active Risk Manager,” said Mr Clift.
