Original Beach Boy David Marks found that surfing for food online as he travels is much easier than surfing in the USA with America’s most successful band of all time, The Beach Boys, after discovering the smarter way to a takeaway through the UK’s leading takeaway site.

David Marks, co-founding member of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Beach Boys created some of the most popular hits of all time including ‘Surfin’ USA’, ‘Little Deuce Coup’, ‘In My Room’ and ‘Surfer Girl’ and was recently in the UK to promote his book “The Lost Beach Boy”. He discovered the UK’s leading takeaway site*,, as he drove past one of the website’s 2,400 partnered restaurants in search of a pizza and noticed the Just-Eat branding incorporated on the shop signage – and became hooked!

David Marks explains,

“With or without The Beach Boys, one of the great problems of travelling is that you can find yourself eating in areas where you are not always sure of the choice of food available and one of the great things about Just-Eat is that all I needed to do was to enter the post-code where I was heading to and was able to order on-line anywhere in the country – simple!”

From Pizza to Sushi, almost 60,000 Takeaway meals are ordered daily in Europe (500,000 per month in Denmark alone) with Just-Eat satisfying a growing need in the current economic climate of creating a wide variety of food – which can be purchased cost-effectively and consumed at home.

Just-Eat has proved to be popular with the family in front of the TV, as it has with office employees ordering between emails, staff and patients from hospitals as referenced in recent news and many others that also rely on the site to provide their takeaway hit.

Managing Director, David Buttress, was delighted that Just-Eat could add a “Beach Boy” to their huge list of satisfied customers – and was pleased that the web-site played such an important part in his dining schedule. He said,

“New takeaway restaurants are continuously joining the success, especially as we are undertaking one of the most ambitious branding programmes in Europe. We are committed to raising the site’s profile even further to help its members maximise the benefits of our online facility; creating much needed revenue for them and extra convenience for the consumer.

“Oh, and who doesn’t love the music of The Beach Boys? They are often dubbed ‘America’s Band’ given their status as the Number 1 selling American band of all time – personally, I can’t think of a better celebrity endorsement!”.

David Marks was complimentary about the service,

“It was easy to use, and through the process there was never an issue with having received the wrong kind of rice. I hope they take orders as far away as California”. is the UK branch of the highly successful European model, which provides an average of more than 30,000 meals for customers in any given 24 hours, and has serviced more than 7 million meal orders since launch.

The service supplies customers with a large portal of varied restaurants and takeaways in their area, which when selected provide the user with a full, up-to-date menu including prices. The site also gives the customer an estimated delivery time, as well as beverage options.
