The boom in the renewable energy sector has helped one of the UK's leading recruitment consultancies expand its energy division.
ATA Recruitment first began to expand into the energy sector last year, placing engineers in the renewables and oil and gas sectors.
It proved so successful that a dedicated division was established to meet the high demand; ATA Energy is based from the Manchester office.
The CBI and the Royal Academy of Engineering have warned that the UK could lag behind in the race to fight climate change because of a lack of skilled staff. Headed by Managing Director Gary Hewett, a team of specialist consultants are drawing on their established expertise in engineering recruitment in order to identify people with the right transferable skills to work in the new "green" industry.
Mr Hewett said: "With climate change moving right to the top of the political agenda, the race is on to get wind power, solar power, tidal energy, biomass energy, ground source heating and cooling working for us in Britain.
"We were surprised by the scale of demand for engineers who have the right skills to work in these fields - they are highly sought after even in these tough economic times.
"Here at ATA Energy we have developed expertise in identifying engineers from more traditional backgrounds but who have the right transferable skills and attitude to really make a difference in the renewable energy field.
"We take the time to find out what employers really require, and we carry out in-depth interviews with all potential candidates to ensure they will fit into the culture of an organisation before recommending them to a client. That way, we can ensure a match which will thoroughly meet the needs of both our client and candidate."
ATA Energy also deals with the more conventional energy sectors of oil and gas, with Marlon Atreides appointed as Principal Consultant for Oil and Gas team. He previously worked as the Head of Engineering Oil & Gas for Oscar Associates in Manchester.
Mr Atreides said: "There are some exciting new discoveries and re-discoveries on Brownfields using new technologies such as directional drilling. LNG is developing and growing all the time, so there’s plenty of business going on."
The ATA Energy team is exhibiting at the All Energy show in Aberdeen and welcomes the opportunity for both clients and candidates to visit them at stand B46 to discuss their needs.
ATA Recruitment is strategically focused into key operating brands, providing the most efficient service possible to each of the markets and sectors it works within.
ATA Selection concentrates on permanent and contract recruitment opportunities within the SME engineering and manufacturing marketplace. ATA Rail, ATA Construction and ATA Energy divisions pursue large scale contracts with industry leaders in their respective fields.
