- John Farrell and Steve Piper bring deep experience to the European Software Operations team which continues to buck the global downward economic trend with its accelerating expansion -
Eschborn, Germany – May 6th, 2009 – Image Solutions Inc. (ISI), a leading provider of electronic submissions management and publishing solutions for the life sciences community, has substantially strengthened its European Software Operations group with the addition of seasoned industry professionals, John Farrell and Steve Piper. The appointments, which further bolster the software team, and report to European Director of Software Operations Eric Sheehan, come hot on the heels of a series of impressive recruitment successes for ISI’s rapidly expanding European business.
John Farrell brings to the team 22 years’ experience in the implementation of computer systems, 18 of these in the regulated medical sector. He graduated at the top of his class at Cranfield University in 1986, with an MSc in manufacturing systems.
Early in his career, John oversaw the implementation of an ERP system at a major European pharmaceutical manufacturer during a period of intense regulatory scrutiny. Since then, his time has been divided between industry and supplier roles, always surrounding the delivery of regulatory-compliant IT-based business improvement projects in the regulated medical sector. He has a wealth of experience in a wide range of application environments, from clinical trials systems, eCRFs and regulatory tracking systems, to software development, and has been a major contributor to a number of current regulatory good practice guides, including GAMP’s ‘Risk Based Approach to Electronic Records and Signatures’ and ‘Electronic Data Archiving’.
Steve Piper is also a highly experienced IT systems professional, with 25 years of experience providing solutions to the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. He has extensive IT project, programme and general management experience, covering a wide range of pharmaceutical business processes including development, manufacturing, sales and marketing, and administration.
Most recently, he was principal consultant at The Synapse Partnership, a specialist in regulatory software and consultancy services for the life sciences market. Before that, he spent eight years as IT Manager at Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd, and two years as European support director at Base Ten Systems. Here, he established and managed the European project implementation team, delivering manufacturing execution systems to the pharmaceutical sector. He graduated with both a BSc in Chemical Engineering, then an MBA, from Loughborough University.
These latest appointments complete a busy cycle of recruitment for ISI in Europe. Over the last few months, this has seen the appointment and promotion of Kate Wilber to Senior European Regulatory Specialist, Eric Sheehan joining as European director of Software Operations, and, most recently, the appointment of Jennie May to the European Regulatory Services team. As further acknowledgement of the strategic importance of the European markets to ISI’s global business, European Managing Director Adam Sherlock has now also been welcomed onto the ISI board of directors.
“We are thrilled to welcome John and Steve to the team,” Adam Sherlock commented. “They combine 47 years of highly relevant experience and industry-specific credentials, further bolstering our already extensive technical skills at a time when our clients are more dependent on ISI’s submissions solutions and services than ever, particularly in Europe.”
