Now, more than ever, contractors need authoritative support, so it’s pleasing to see them turning to ContractorCalculator in increasing numbers

London, Wednesday 13th May 2009

ContractorCalculator’s popularity continues to grow, with its latest ABCe audited visitor numbers showing an 8% jump to 113,827 unique users/browsers in March 2009.

These figures are a direct result of the site’s policy of increasing its investment in high quality news reporting, in-depth guides, expert advice and advanced calculators. “Now, more than ever, contractors need authoritative support, so it’s pleasing to see them turning to ContractorCalculator in increasing numbers,” says ContractorCalculator CEO Dave Chaplin.

“The economic downturn and meltdown of the financial sector leaves UK contractors facing the toughest challenges since the millennium began, but also with a great many opportunities,” says Chaplin. “So ContractorCalculator will continue to provide the information contractors need to maximise the success of their contracting careers.”

Chaplin continues: “This third ABCe certificate clearly demonstrates that our leading contractor website has a significant and growing readership of contractors and that our ongoing investment into high quality content is justified.”

According to Chaplin, independent verification of site visitors is hugely important: “ABCe is independent and uses industry standards for measuring website metrics. Without an ABCe certificate, internet users and advertisers cannot be sure that the traffic and visitor numbers claimed by websites are accurate and recorded correctly, using standards developed by the Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards (JICWEBS).”

James Coyle, a media executive and media buyer at WhichMedia, agrees: "Websites that have their traffic figures audited by the industry body ABCe make our buying decisions much easier. We know we can invest in them with confidence and trust."

Coyle’s views are echoed by Rob Crossland, managing director of professional business services provider Parasol Group, which has one of the largest UK umbrella companies as part of its portfolio. “We’ve developed considerable trust in the ContractorCalculator advertising property,” says Crossland, “Quay Accounting, recently acquired by the Parasol Group, is a new advertiser with the website because we trust the visitor numbers and get results.”

Contractors rely on advertisers making effective media buying decisions to ensure that they are fully aware of the latest products and services available to ensure their contracting careers and lifestyles run as smoothly as possible. If advertisers are not provided with accurate information about where they advertise, marketing messages are misdirected at the wrong audiences, resulting in advertising ‘white noise’ that turns potential customers off.

“We will continue to invest in high quality content that provides contractors with the tools they need to make their contracting careers a success,” concludes Chaplin, “and so that their repeat visits contribute to our growing visitor numbers.”

Who We Are

ContractorCalculator is a leading independent website for the UK contracting industry – most of whom are highly skilled knowledge workers in information technology, telecoms, engineering, electronics, and construction.

There are 1.4 million such workers in the UK today who prefer to run their own businesses and work under contract rather than become employees of specific companies. Their contribution to the economy is crucial to keeping UK businesses competitive.

ContractorCalculator is independently audited by ABCe. Its last audit, in March 2009, showed the site was visited by 113,827 unique users/browsers in that month.
