ATA Recruitment performing well in a difficult market
The recruitment division of the RTC Group Plc, which comprises ATA Recruitment and the on-track labour supply business Ganymede Solutions, has announced an impressive set of annual results to the year ended December 31, 2008, further reinforcing its position in the marketplace.
Not only has turnover risen by 11 per cent, to £20.64 million but operating profit has grown by 23 per cent, to £1.05 million, with an increase in efficiency of job placements per consultant.
The results reflect both another strong performance in the company’s core regional recruitment business and the company’s decision to invest in specialist niche and emerging markets, such as the growing renewable energy sector, where its expertise is experiencing high demand.
ATA Recruitment has ten regional offices across the United Kingdom and operates within a number of specific SME and vertical markets specialising in engineering, technical and sales recruitment within general engineering and manufacturing, rail, construction and renewable energy. They provide skilled permanent and contract workers from operational level through to senior management roles, for companies of all sizes ranging from SMEs to multinationals located both within the United Kingdom and increasingly on an international basis.
In 2008 RTC Group Plc underwent a re-organisation and re-branding, with Andy Hardaker, appointed as Managing Directors of ATA Selection and Gary Hewett appointed Managing Director of Ganymede and the ATA Vertical business.
The company made a significant investment in the recruitment business during 2008, refurbishing all ten of its recruitment offices and undertaking significant brand development.
It also enhanced its reputation for being a top employer in the sector by introducing higher levels of commission for consultants and increased opportunities for high achievers.
Andrew Hardaker, Managing Director of ATA Selection, said: “We are continuing to invest in our brand, including our people, offices and online presence. I do not see this as a time to be cutting back but instead to be building on our success and making the most of the opportunities that are very definitely there in the current climate.”
Gary Hewett, Managing Director of the ATA vertical business, said: “It is fair to say that we are going against the grain. It is by no means easy and times are difficult, but because of the experience we have in established sectors and diversifying into new areas, most recently the energy market, we are able to make the most of the current conditions.”
RTC Group Chairman Bill Douie said: “There do not seem to be any real signs of reversal of the current downward momentum in world GDP and we must expect to experience difficult times in the short term.
“Each of our businesses face uniquely different challenges and whilst we are in the midst of incredibly uncertain times, I am confident that each of our Managing Directors is well placed to manage our businesses through and beyond current market uncertainty.
“Significant sales growth at both Ganymede and within ATA Vertical markets and a better understanding of cost and operations management at the Derby Conference Centre provide early signs of encouragement that our decision to appoint new Managing Directors was and still remains pivotal to the future success of RTC Group.”
