INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER LAUNCHES FIRST MAGAZINE
DEDICATED TO BOOK CLUBS
The UK ‘book club’ phenomenon is still on the rise with several hundred thousand people currently believed to regularly attend social ‘book clubs’ – now these book fans have their own dedicated, monthly magazine - ‘BookClub’. BookClub is produced by up and coming independent publisher Wise Dog Books, and is designed to be the perfect companion to social book club membership.
BookClub Magazine will be produced monthly from June 2009 and each issue features over fifty pages of news and book-related articles, including featured writers, reading suggestions, top book lists, literary travel information, and interviews with libraries, bookshops and readers. Readers will also find hints and tips for starting, joining and developing a book club, as well as themed items, and lots more to help them get the most out of their precious reading time, and impress the others at their book clubs.
BookClub is available by subscription and through independent bookshops (a list of current stockists available is on the website). It costs just £3 an issue, and there are discounts for six and twelve month subscriptions. To subscribe, readers need to visit the Wise Dogs Books website at www.wisedogbooks.co.uk - readers are also able to list their own book clubs on the site for free.
Wise Dog Books was formed in 2008 and is best known for its popular BookDiary and BookTraveller series of readers’ guides. According to Wise Dog Books Director, Victoria Barry, “The success of BookDiary led us to believe there was a market for a magazine that adds value to the reading experience to all levels of reader, whether or not they belong to a book club. We believe BookClub will provide lots of extra ideas and stimulus as well as encouraging reader participation and providing plenty of things to talk about, too.”
