A Nº 1 Bordeaux to mark Bastille Day
Celebrate Entente Cordiale on Bastille Day 14 July with the new 2008 vintage of Dourthe Nº 1 Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux
A zesty white wine, with delicious tropical aromas and a fresh finish, revolutionised dry white wine making in Bordeaux back in 1988. Like the storming of the Bastille on 14 July, Dourthe changed the face of modern Bordeaux winemaking, setting the standards for excellence and distinctiveness with the creation of Dourthe Nº 1 Sauvignon Blanc.
A more finely tuned 2008 Dourthe Nº 1 Sauvignon Blanc is now available at £6.99 in Waitrose and Booths (£8.99 Wine Rack at 3 for 2 offer). Thomas Drouineau, Dourthe’s Head Oenologist, describes the latest vintage in the No 1 range. “Produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2008 has intense fruit aromas with lemon and grapefruit zest. The underlying passion fruit notes are accompanied by nuances of freshly cut hay. Generous and fleshy on the palate there is good acidity and structure which follows through strongly with a lingering fresh finish.”
Dourthe Nº 1 Sauvignon Blanc was created in 1988 by Dourthe with a team of top oenologists (Denis Dubourdieu and Christophe Olliver). Sourcing top quality grapes from dedicated wine growers from vineyards in the northern part of Bordeaux, Dourthe and its experts transcended the boundaries of dry white winemaking to produce a wine which has become the benchmark of modern Bordeaux wines. Innovative with exacting standards, Dourthe Nº 1 Sauvignon Blanc is a result of passionate winemakers and its creators.
So let’s toast to Entente Cordiale and the arrival of 2008 Dourthe Nº 1 Sauvignon Blanc. À votre santé!
