2009 Wimbledon got underway this week but without the 2008 men’s single champion, Rafael Nadal, forced to miss the tournament due to a knee injury.. It seems unfair that Nadal who had won the Australian Open in January should lose two Grand Slams immediately afterwards. However his loss, it seems, is Roger Federer’s gain. The Swiss is now red hot favourite to win in the Wimbledon Betting for the sixth time and has already poached his first French title after Nadal lost in the fourth round there. Federer has never been better placed to win Wimbledon as he is this year.

His main rival is now Britain’s number one tennis player and Andy Murray Wimbledon Betting reflects his excellent chance as he has beaten Federer in each of their last four meetings, but the two have yet to meet on grass. Murray lost in painful style to Federer in the 2008 US Open final and knows that Federer in five set Grand Slam mode is not the same player he meets more regularly in three set ATP events.

That said, Murray is seeded to be the first British mens finalist since Fred Perry and on ability alone he should make it through. Possible dangers on his side of the draw is the big hitting Fernando Gonzalez, who dumped him out of the French Open and Gilles Simon, the number one French player these days

The women’s singles should once again be between the Williams sisters, with Venus being the most likely having won the crown three times in the last four years and five times in total. Sister Serena, who has won the title twice seems to struggle against her sister on grass these days and although she is favourite, Venus is the pick.

British girl, Laura Robson, winner of 2008 Junior Wimbledon title has already exited the tournament, beaten in the first round by former world number five Daniela Hantuchova. In defeat however she proved what an outstanding prospect she is, taking the first set and breaking serve in the second set and looking very likely to win the match in two straights. However, Hantuchova recovered in the nick of time to fight back and take the match.

British fans however will be looking to one man and one man alone to win the title. Murray can expect huge support and a win for him at Wimbledon will undoubtedly raise the brand new retractable roof! For the best Online Betting experience and quality Bookmaker's Betting Offers.
