Almost 70% of workers admit to lying on their C.V. but since the recent showing of The Apprentice, where the majority of candidates were caught out lying, an increase in candidates are now seeking professional advice about the legalities regarding inaccurate information on their C.V.
A recent study has found that almost 70% of Brits have either lied or exaggerated on their C.V., but the UK’s leading recruitment scoring website has seen a dramatic increase in the amount of candidates seeking free recruitment advice about the legalities of lying on their C.V. following on from The Apprentice.
www.HireScores.com, has received more than 500 enquiries from candidates regarding their C.V. in the last month and it is thought the recent showing of The Apprentice, where many contestants were found to have lied on their application, is behind the recent influx of worried workers and candidates trying to establish what the outcome could be if their lies were uncovered.
The majority of enquiries have come from genuinely concerned workers and candidates who fear that, despite having the relevant work experience, without lying or exaggerating on their C.V. they will not be able to compete with other, more qualified candidates.
Candidates also frequently feel pressure from less ethical recruiters or CV writing agencies to ‘dress things up’ and can lose site of the fact that this is their reputation and livelihood that is at stake.
