Wellington, Somerset, 25th June 2009

The two magnificent and fearsome 6-year old female Bengal Tigers, Kushkja and Tira, are just getting acquainted with their £200,000 Tiger Territory, which is the newest and most innovative Tiger enclosure in the country. Meanwhile it appears that Tira is pregnant, so before too long the adults will hopefully be joined by tiger cubs, which will prove an even bigger attraction for viewers. In addition, the two females are set to be joined by a 4-year old male, Tanvir, once they have settled in properly. The growing tiger family can be viewed from two webcam positions – one in the tigers’ den and the other outside in their territory at CheckItLive.

Head keeper Chris Wilkinson, says: "The new enclosure is packed full of tiger toys to ensure our new arrivals are provided with environmental enrichment. Toys such as 10 ft scratching posts, play balls and diving boards, where the tigers will be able to jump into their 5ft deep swimming pools. Tigers are excellent climbers so we have also constructed 15ft high enrichment climbing towers aimed at encouraging the tigers to use all their skills. In the ten years we have been running as a zoo, tigers are the most ferocious arrivals we have had at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm and it is very exciting".

The enclosure will be sustainable, harvesting rain and underground water into underground storage tanks to replenish the two ponds. There will also be platforms for the tigers to jump on and bask in the sun, wooden structures for them to climb and scratch their claws on and, in time, a collection of trees. The tigers will have three keepers, two of whom have been on a week's training course at Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire.

Mark Welch, CEO of CheckItLive said: “It is a real pleasure to be able to provide Noah’s Ark with the opportunity to share the arrival of these amazing creatures with a large online audience, with our live video feeds. We are certain that the arrival of tiger cubs will prove a huge hit with viewers of our cameras”
