Almost nine out of ten shoppers in the UK now consult the internet before making key purchasing decisions, new research has revealed.

Researchers working on behalf of voucher code shopping site NetVoucherCodes.co.uk found a massive 89 per cent of us now use the web to check prices before buying any item likely to cost over £100.

And almost three quarters of us (73%) check online before buying an item likely to cost more than £20.

The bad news for traditional retailers is that books and music are the most popular items bought online with a massive 82% of shoppers saying they bought books online in the past year and 78% buying their music over the web.

Price comparison sites are now used by 86% of all shoppers and more than half of us – 56% - are now using special codes from discount sites such as www.NetVoucherCodes.co.uk to make sure we get the best possible bargains.

Yet 32% of those surveyed said they had abandoned some voucher sites in the past because the offers were out of date or the sites were too slow to operate.

NetVoucherCodes.co.uk is a brand new site which brings together the best bargains from retailers all over the internet.

It uses advanced technology to ensure offers remain up to date and to give users the best possible shopping experience.

MD Steve Barnes said: “We commissioned this research to get a clearer picture of the public’s internet shopping habits.

“The figures for those using price comparison sites were even higher than we expected and demonstrate just how much the internet has revolutionized the British public’s shopping habits.

“Voucher sites are becoming more popular too as shoppers realise they can save even more on their online purchases simply by obtaining a code they then use at their favourite retailer’s checkout page.

“We created Net Voucher Codes to bring together the very best offers on the web and to make sure shoppers have a positive online retail experience.

“We have a dedicated sales pages where the latest and very best shopping bargains from across the internet are all gathered together in one place.

“Significant investment in server capacity means that NetVoucherCodes.co.uk is one of the fastest, if not the fastest voucher code site on the web. Again, meaning a good user experience and finding that code faster.

“We have also invested in back office systems meaning that more codes and offers are added each day than ever before. Some days over 100 codes and offers are added.

“By using our site shoppers can make massive savings off their purchases from big brand retailers including Tesco, M&S, Comet, Vodaphone and Argos. It really is one of the best voucher sites around.”
