Almost nine out of ten shoppers in the UK now consult the internet before making key purchasing decisions, new research has revealed.

Researchers working on behalf of voucher code shopping site found a massive 89 per cent of us now use the web to check prices before buying any item likely to cost over £100.

And almost three quarters of us (73%) check online before buying an item likely to cost more than £20.

The bad news for traditional retailers is that books and music are the most popular items bought online with a massive 82% of shoppers saying they bought books online in the past year and 78% buying their music over the web.

Price comparison sites are now used by 86% of all shoppers and more than half of us – 56% - are now using special codes from discount sites such as to make sure we get the best possible bargains.

Yet 32% of those surveyed said they had abandoned some voucher sites in the past because the offers were out of date or the sites were too slow to operate. is a brand new site which brings together the best bargains from retailers all over the internet.
