Some properties still available for late summer; book now for Christmas and 2010!

20 July 2009 - The award winning Tots to Travel has added a collection of stunning new properties to its portfolio of over 100 villas, farmhouses and gîtes in France. The new additions build on the existing selection of genuinely child-friendly, self-catering properties in France, Italy and the UK, all of which are visited and vetted by the Tots team to ensure that parents get a real break.

The new additions provide something for everyone – from houses suitable for allergy sufferers, to beach and lakeside locations, close proximity to ski slopes, on-site restaurants and even maid service!

Key features of the properties include alarmed pools, indoor and outdoor play equipment, baby kit (including stair gates, high chairs, potties, blenders, sterilisers, baby monitors, cots and linen) adult and children’s bikes, home cooked meals and of course baby sitting.

Some of the new additions

In the Languedoc, The Water Mill has two three-bedroomed properties, which can sleep between 16 to 20 people when booked together. The star attraction of this site is the heated infinity pool which overlooks a river. Added to this is a mini football pitch, enclosed adventure playground, on-site fishing & kayaking, broadband internet connection, a games room and if you can bear to tear yourself away, the beach is only half and hour away. Prices start at £645 per week. Summer availability is gone but there’s plenty to do in the cooler months of October to December where there is still availability. Most notably, both properties are still available for Christmas and New Year with prices at £695 per property per week – perfect for a big family get together.

At Gîtes de la Vienne in the Pitou Charente there are three newly refurbished properties available – sleeping either two adults and two children or four adults with room for cots. The properties, formerly part of a fromagerie, sit in a pretty rural location and feature an enclosed pool and lots of outdoor play equipment. There is a lovely restaurant on site (within baby monitor range) plus a local bar, shop and chateau within walking distance. Prices start at £475 per week. Still some availability for late August, September and October.

Staying in the same region, La Planche du Perre is a cluster of three gîtes (two with two bedrooms, one with three) and is newly converted with immaculate décor. Suitable for allergy sufferers due to hard flooring and use of eco products, it’s also a welcome respite for mums wanting a complete break with maid service and home cooked meals on offer. Sitting in a pretty rural location with walks and cycling direct from the property, prices start from just £335 per week in low season, with limited space still available in September.

Les Saivaignes in Haute-Savoi is all about location, location, location! It overlooks Lake Annecy, known as Europe’s cleanest lake, with its stunning lake and mountain views. It’s got something for every season as it’s a mere five minutes walk from the lakeside beach and 20 minutes from nursery slopes, perfect for teaching the kids how to ski. Within walking distance to restaurants, bars and shops and a WI FI hotspot, it sleeps 8 in four bedrooms, plus babies and prices start from £1900. Limited availability in September left, but more availability between October and December.

Last but not least, in the Ile d’Oleron, is Brise de Mer. For families with a big age gap between their children – perhaps tweens, teens or older stepchildren – and a new baby, this property is ideal. It caters for a couple and a baby, plus it has a bunk room with separate entrance for older children. It’s only a five minute walk to the beach and a 15 minute walk to a pretty fishing harbour, restaurants and shops, perfect for a traditional seaside holiday. Priced from only £375 in the shoulder seasons, it still has a couple of weeks available in August for £695.

Wendy Shand, founder of Tots to Travel comments, “We strive to offer parents a wide choice of properties, but all with one thing in common – that they truly are child friendly. That’s to say they don’t just provide a cot and high chair, but much more to make it a holiday for both parents and children.”

Tots to Travel
Tots to Travel (www.totstotravel.co.uk) is the parent company of Tots to France, Tots to Italy and Tots to the UK. The company specialises in providing accommodation to meet the very specific needs of families with babies and young children. All properties are fully equipped with a range of child-related equipment and safety features. The company also provides English-speaking babysitters and home cooked meals. All properties are personally visited and vetted by mums who are trained according to Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) standards.

The company was set up by Wendy Shand, mum of two, in April 2006 as a holiday lettings agency with a range of family friendly properties throughout France. The concept proved enormously successful, with the company now offering over 100 French properties. Building on this success, the award-winning formula was replicated in Italy with the launch of Tots to Italy in January 2008, now featuring almost 30 vetted properties. Tots to the UK launched in February 2009, with roll outs for other countries like the Spain, Portugal and Turkey planned.

Wendy Shand won the Mother@work Best Mumpreneur Award 2007, the Enterprisenation Home Business of the Year Award 2007 and the BT Essence of the Entrepreneur Award 2007. The company was also a regional finalist in the HSBC Start Up Stars awards 2008, a finalist in the StartUps Awards 2008 and a runner up in the Everywomen Awards 2008.
