...First website goes live in Italy ahead of European roll out...

London – 4 August 2009. hybris (, a leading multi-channel commerce and communication software vendor, has announced that The Pirelli Group, the fifth largest tyre manufacturer in the world, has chosen the hybris Commerce as the e-commerce platform at the heart of its new e-shop for its prestigious range of motorcycle tyres.

The Italian web site, which is the first in a series of motorbike tyre e-shops to be launched across Europe over the next few years, went live only two and a half months after concept design by hybris and its new Italian implementation partner, Talentlab. Pirelli required a flexible and robust e-commerce solution that closely met its needs for a functionally rich platform, without extensive additional development work that would delay the launch of the new sales channel.

The new website,, enables Pirelli’s customers to review its online catalogue; to select the appropriate tyre for the make and model of their motorbike to ensure the best fit; check availability and place an order with Pirelli who despatches the tyres to the nearest dealer. An appointment to fit the tyre can be made during the ordering process.

Pirelli commented that: “We wanted to offer our customers a flexible, direct sales and fit service but wanted to ensure that the new e-shop would deliver the customer service excellence one would expect from Pirelli, from anywhere in the world.”

“hybris has a proven track record in multi-currency, multi-language, multi-territory e-commerce solutions. Its scalability and speed of implementation were key factors for us as we roll out the new online channel to other European countries and we are confident that we have found the right partner in hybris,” Pirelli added.

Ariel Lüdi, CEO of the hybris Group: “We are delighted to be supporting Pirelli’s forward-looking e-commerce strategy, helping them to put functionality, scalability and robustness at the heart of their online business. We look forward to working with them in the long-term.”
