London – 4 August 2009. hybris (www.hybris.com), a leading multi-channel commerce and communication software vendor, has announced that The Pirelli Group, the fifth largest tyre manufacturer in the world, has chosen the hybris Commerce as the e-commerce platform at the heart of its new e-shop for its prestigious range of motorcycle tyres.
The Italian web site, which is the first in a series of motorbike tyre e-shops to be launched across Europe over the next few years, went live only two and a half months after concept design by hybris and its new Italian implementation partner, Talentlab. Pirelli required a flexible and robust e-commerce solution that closely met its needs for a functionally rich platform, without extensive additional development work that would delay the launch of the new sales channel.
The new website, www.gettyre.it, enables Pirelli’s customers to review its online catalogue; to select the appropriate tyre for the make and model of their motorbike to ensure the best fit; check availability and place an order with Pirelli who despatches the tyres to the nearest dealer. An appointment to fit the tyre can be made during the ordering process.
