London, UK, 26th August 2009 – Ricoh UK today announced the release of Print Copy Scan (PCS) Director 6 to customers through its partnership with Print Audit, a leading provider of print tracking and copy auditing solutions. With PCS Director customers are able to reduce environmental impact, as well as document output costs, through tools that manage printing and copying activity, report chargebacks, and identify the true cost of printing across entire organisations.

With PCS Director 6, users will find features that allow for better print, copy and scan tracking that help to monitor and manage document output costs, providing a more detailed picture of document-related activity, along with tighter control. With centralised management and five separate modules, PCS Director makes it easier to reduce total cost of ownership, improve processes for users, creates a more cost effective document environment and provides a true analysis of document production costs. Additionally the Ricoh Embedded PCS Director module extends the functionality to account for copies and scans as well as print jobs giving you total cost management and assessment for all your document costs.

PCS Director 6 offers unique functional modules from the analysis and assessment module that provides an exact picture of the printing volume, no matter how many devices are on the network, as well as proving tools to perform software based print audits. The rules module helps control document costs and minimise abuse according to the needs of the organisation and the reduction module allows the recapture of document costs with the recovery module’s cost accounting and chargeback tools.

“PCS Director provides customers the advanced tools they need to drive their environmental and security initiatives, while at the same time reducing their total cost of ownership,” said Neil O’Donoghue, product manager, Ricoh UK. “Ricoh is committed to providing true value to our customers and is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the PCS Director 6 product.”

Ricoh will also be releasing an embedded version of PCS Director, which is compatible with the latest generation of java-based Ricoh Multifunction Devices (MFD). The embedded solution can extend the power of PCS Director software by combining print, copy and scan measurements in a single detailed report that can control total output volumes and allow a reduction of the total cost of ownership.

About Ricoh UK

Ricoh designs, develops and manufactures a complete range of print and document management, hardware, software and services which are tailored to meet individual customer needs. Its devices print, copy, scan and fax documents as an integrated part of the IT network and enterprise content management system. Software is used to audit usage, manage document flows, simplify business processes, control print expenditure and secure access. The company takes an innovative approach to research and development, having invented the first digital black & white copier and introducing the colour-capable device.

Ricoh established an Environmental Protection Office in 1976, and has been striving to minimise the effect of its activities on the environment ever since. Ricoh UK’s environmental credentials are second to none; it operates a zero-waste policy at all of its manufacturing plants and is investing in carbon reduction technologies to reduce the environmental impact of its operations rather than merely offsetting its carbon footprint. The company operates a dedicated ‘Green Centre’, where old machines are re-commissioned and recycled in line with WEEE Directive guidelines and accredited with ISO14001:2004 for environmental management. Ricoh has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard that requires an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and, for the fifth consecutive year, has also been named as one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" by the World Economic Forum in Davos.
