London - 2 October, 1997- Acorn World '97 will confirm that Acorn Group plc, one of the world's leading developers and suppliers of innovative technologies, is at the cutting edge of developments in the home computing market. The first network computers (NC's), designed by Acorn and licensed to Oracle Corporation, Curtis Mathes, NetProducts and others, will be demonstrated at the 5th Acorn World, to be held at Wembley Exhibition Hall 3, from 31st October to 2nd November. Fully operational network computers will be available for attendees to try out and purchase.

For the first time ever in public demonstration, attendees to Acorn World '97 will be able to see Acorn's recently launched LAN TV; a server and hardware solution that delivers video on demand to low cost televisions via enterprise networks. LAN TV and the NC constitute the core of Acorn's TVCentric (TM) technological thrust, allowing end users to access the latest technologies using their standard television.

Highlights from the Products division include a prototype of the StrongArm based RISC PCII (available in Spring 1998) and Java-enabled products. A new raft of games for the Acorn format will also be displayed, highlighting Acorn's continued commitment to this sector. All the next generation products and technologies will be demonstrated show attendees at the Acorn Technology Showcase Cinema.

Kerri Davies, Product Marketing Manager, comments, "The Network Computer is the first totally platform-independent internet connectivity which brings the full benefits of internet access to all at an affordbable price. We proud to unveil several leading edge technologies at Acorn World '97 because it symbolises our efforts to be the world's leading developer and supplier of innovative technology."

At last year's event, over £2 million was spent by visitors during the three days. This year, with other exhibitors including Beebug, Pineapple Software, Castle Technology, DeskTop Projects and Clare's Micro Supplies, the aim is to better that and set new records.

To compliment the central exhibition, there will be demonstrations to preview the latest news from Acorn Computers and showcase applications for DTP, Multimedia, Music and the Internet. In addition, Acorn World '97 features seminars and workshops for taking place throughout the three days, covering a wide range of issues and topics.
