When asked “What type of date is most likely to get you ‘in the mood’?” more than a third of women agreed that being taken to a nice restaurant was the best choice
A survey of nearly 2000 British women by one of the UK’s most popular sites has found that romance is still very much alive, despite the recession. According to the study, the best way to get women “in the mood” is by taking them on a date to a nice restaurant. A relationship expert has given her top tips for men taking women on dates.
Restaurants may have seen a drop in sales through the tougher periods of the recession, but taking a date out for a romantic meal is the number one way of ensuring you get lucky, according to a study of 1,891 British women.
The UK’s most popular discount code site, www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk commissioned a study to help charmless men better understand what women want, and has found the top 5 ways to woo a date, and has worked with a leading relationship counsellor to put together 5 top tips for a successful date.
When asked “What type of date is most likely to get you ‘in the mood’?” more than a third of women agreed that being taken to a nice restaurant was the best choice.
Here is a top five list of dates women agree are most conducive to winning them over,
1. Being taken to a nice restaurant – 34%
2. Being cooked a meal – 20%
3. A night out at bars – 17%
4. A late night walk – 12%
5. Being taken to the cinema – 9%
Other evenings women appreciated included “active” dates, such as bowling, and meeting their date’s friends.
When asked “Does the amount of money spent on the date affect your enjoyment of a date?” men should be happy to hear that just 38% of women answered ‘yes’, meaning that less expensive, but thoughtful dates such as romantic walks are appreciated similarly.
A quarter of British women, 27%, said that they wouldn’t rule out sleeping with a man on the first date, but according to the study, it’s most likely to happen on the third date.
MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, which provides many discounts codes for restaurants, bars and other date ideas, has teamed up with relationship expert Jackie Walker to provide a short guide for men short on confidence but interested in pleasing the fairer sex.
Here is a quick-fire 5 point guide to calming your nerves and ensuring a smooth date, courtesy of Jackie Walker, relationship expert and Director of Breakup Angels, www.breakupangels.com;
1. Treat her like a lady
Every female loves to be treated like a lady, no matter how unused to it they are. Many are very self sufficient and independent, but don’t be fooled this is most probably a safety barrier which will soon come down when they know that they are in the company of someone who is willing to get to know the real her. Book the table if necessary for instance, make an effort to dress appropriately, smile, be attentive, and open the door.
2. Talking Balls
Although there are many occasions when a female is interested in football, rugby or golf take her lead on it and keep your conversation on a more even playing field. Also, being upbeat and positive and willing to approach life with a can-do attitude is much more attractive than dwelling on past misfortunes.
3. High Interest Account
Remember that it’s not all about you. The minute you start to focus your attention on the other person you will find that your nerves have gone. Your date is likely to be nervous too and by working at putting her at ease you will have managed a buy one, get one free solution. Keep in mind that it’s not only whether she likes you, but whether you like her enough to invite her out again.
Breathing is useful, it keeps us alive. When we are in a situation which causes us some stress, we often forget to breathe. Stop and breath slowly, making sure that as you breathe in it reaches the very lowest part of your lungs. This will also allow your shoulders to drop and you’ll stand taller and be more in control of your feelings.
We all have different tastes in people and looking for a new partner is no different. Being desperate to settle with the first person you ask out is often asking for trouble. Remember to be yourself from the outset, a few months down the line and you will revert to your default setting anyway.
Mark Pearson, founder of discount site MyVoucherCodes.co.uk had the following to say,
“Although women appreciate a man who can look after his money, it’s clear that it’s the thoughtful gestures such as being cooked a meal that is; and I’ll say this quickly because my mum could be reading, most likely to ensure you get lucky!
“If money is an issue, we’ve got loads of fantastic discounts on MyVoucherCodes such as 2 for 1 at many restaurants, discounts for bars and more. Personally, and I’m not saying I’m a Casanova, I think confidence is key to making the most out of any dating situation.”
