Music and dancing is all part of Spanish culture and anyone heading to Bilbao hotels in the new year may be hoping to don a summery dress and get a taste of the party atmosphere by joining in a traditional fiesta.

During their time in the north of the country, they could explore what the Basque region has to offer and San Sebastian, which is the capital of the province of Guipuscoa, has one event that could get them tapping their feet.

On January 20th 2010, the annual Tamborrada Drum Parade will celebrate the city's patron saint and, in true Spanish fashion, it will be done with plenty of noise.

Drummers will begin marching through the streets as soon as the clock strikes midnight to signal the end of January 19th in Plaza de la Constitucion.

The festivities will continue throughout the day, with a flag being hoisted to signal the start of the events.

Over the years the festival has grown to include more and more participants and theymarch through all quarters of the city.

What's on When recommends catching the Children's Drum Parade in the afternoon, "where the city's children are smartly dressed in red and blue suits, white gloves and black Napoleonic hats with a red feather".

Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, commented: "Demand for the Tamborrada Drum Parade is always significant and we recommend that anyone considering attending should book their hoteles Bilbao as early as possible."
