Fashion experts have tipped knitted jumpers as the must-have item to wear this season, however a new survey has revealed that 97% of the population would prefer to receive a gift voucher than the traditional jumper this Christmas.

Knitted jumpers, once the naff clothing of choice for the likes of Alan Partridge and Timmy Mallet, have seen a revival this year, with everyone from Sting to Keira Knightley spotted wearing patterned knitted jumpers with pride. Christmas jumpers have even appeared in festive advertising campaigns for Tassimo and Western Union.

Yet the survey carried out by bonusbond gift vouchers, which questioned 280 UK adults, highlights that receiving a gift voucher as a Christmas present is still popular, enabling the recipient to spend the voucher on a gift they really want.

Bonusbond gift vouchers can be spent at over 25,000 of many of Britain’s favourite retail outlets including Argos, Boots, Debenhams, River Island, Top Shop, Waterstone’s and WH Smith, and in restaurants, theatres, UK attractions, hotels and holidays.

Francis Goss at bonusbond said: “Gift vouchers are an extremely versatile present which allows the recipient to choose a gift they really want. Knitted jumper fans needn’t despair if they do receive a voucher for Christmas – they can spend them in one of the many stores like Topshop and River Island that are stocking them this year!”

Launched in 1980, bonusbond gift vouchers were the UK’s first multi-store gift vouchers and have become one of the nation’s most enduring corporate reward vouchers.
