Culture vultures looking for ways to spend an evening while staying at Naples hotels could head down to the theatre and enjoy an opera performance.

On Tuesday February 2nd, singers will take to the stage at the city's Theatro di San Carlo to perform La Clemenza di Tito, which was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The main characters in the story are Tito, who will be played by Gregory Kunde in this production, Vitellia, played by Teresa Romano, Servilia, brought to life by Elena Monti and Annio, who will be portrayed by Francesca Russo Ermolli.

Directed by Jeffrey Tate, this may be the ideal way for people staying in the city to relax and take in a performance of an opera by one of the world's most famous composers.

The performance begins at 20:30 local time and the theatre is located on Via San Carlo 98.

Built in 1737 by King Charles of Bourbon, the Theatro di San Carlo is the oldest working building of its kind in Europe.

It survived the Second World War and despite being engulfed in flames in a 1861 fire, regular seasons of performances have only been interrupted once – in 1874 and 1875 – due to lack of funds.

To make the most of La Clemenza di Tito, you should consider booking your hotel Napoli to avoid disappointment.
