Infinity SDC Ltd has appointed MITIE Technology and Infrastructure Limited to expand its Infinity TWO low energy data centre just outside Romford, London. Once complete the development will deliver 100,000 square feet of resilient and highly efficient 21st century data centre capacity to customers at a time when companies are desperately seeking solutions to improve efficiency, increase reliability and drive down operating costs.

The conversion of Infinity TWO from a former distribution warehouse, into a Tier 3 – 4 high availability data centre makes a huge difference to the environment. If all of Infinity TWO’s customers moved from legacy data centres, which typically might have a power usage efficiency (PUE) of 2.1, into the new design, they would collectively save almost 6,132,000 kW/hrs of energy a year and avoid the dumping of 2,636 tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere each year.
Infinity TWO is situated in a low risk area with full planning permission. The new data centre is located ideally, within the M25 and with excellent public transport links to London – Liverpool Street Station being just 15 minutes away by train. It adjoins major telecoms carriers’ main fibre routes to Central London. Currently, over 30% of the space has been contracted to customers and standard designs achieve some of the lowest PUE ratings in the industry at ratings of 1.4 and below.
Infinity provides each of its customers with dedicated and resilient M&E systems, from the HV transformer through generators, UPS and chiller systems to the individual IT equipment cabinets. Together with high levels of physical security (with all plant housed within the building shell), the provision of independent power and cooling infrastructure helps ensure availability of IT services to customers located at Infinity TWO.
