•IRIS Payroll Basics helps small business owners to manage HMRC payroll requirements

London, UK, 15th February 2010: IRIS, one of the UK's largest suppliers of payroll software and the largest privately owned UK software business today announced the launch of its new free IRIS Payroll Basics solution in association with HMRC. Recent changes in UK law mean that from May 2010 all employers regardless of the number of employees within the organisation are required to file their employer annual return online. IRIS Payroll Basics is a robust free payroll solution specifically designed to help organisations with less than 10 employees adhere to the new HM Revenue and Customs legislation for online year-end filing.

IRIS Payroll Basics is incredibly easy to use and removes the need to enter data more than once cutting down on valuable administration time and the risk of errors.

This is welcome news for small business owners with up to 9 employees who from the fiscal tax year-end 2009/2010, will be required to file their P35 and P14 year-end tax and national insurance documents online. Surprisingly over 350,000 small businesses opted to submit paper copies when filing their PAYE returns with HMRC for the 2008/2009 tax year and any businesses who fail to submit correctly online this year will face hefty penalties.

This new legislation creates a challenge for those organisations who currently do not have a payroll product as they will need to submit their figures manually online through the HMRC website. This is a lengthy and error prone process, requiring a company to set up their details for each person on the database provided by HMRC and then manually type in their final year figures.
